So, the nightmare is over, for now. There is no need to give a detailed account of the Raiders loss to the Jets, because it was the same thing it has been all season. The defense playing well, only to be overshadowed by an offense that has been ridiculously bad.
So what now? With the Raiders securing the #1 pick in the draft, we have a really good chance to get a guy that could be a difference maker on offense. Over the next couple of weeks, I am going to post an article each day breaking down the different positions or position groups. This will be a detailed look at each position, and give some options we have to make that position better.
Before I get into that, I want to point out that I am very disappointed in our coaching staff, and in particular Art Shell. It wasn't too long ago that I posted that we should give Art another year, because it makes us look bad firing our coach every year. I only agree with half of that now. We will look bad if we fire Shell, but it has to be done. I cannot, and the Raider Nation cannot bear to go through another season like this. I have tried to find reasons for the Raiders to keep Shell, but I can no longer do that. He has given us no hope. Why start Aaron Brooks in the last game of the season? Why not get a better look at Andrew Walter before deciding that he isn't the future? That is the only logical explanation as to why Walter wouldn't have started, they don't have the confidence they had in Walter when they anointed him "The quarterback of the future". Is this an indication of who we are going to draft?
There are so many questions that need to be answered this off season. Hopefully the first one will be answered tomorrow, and we will be looking for a new head coach.
